Dear Friends,
The Feast of Pentecost will
be celebrated this year on 11 May and on that day, recalling the coming of
the Holy Spirit on the first disciples, we pray that that same Spirit will
come on us so that we might truly be the Body of Christ in the world. In
his earthly life, Jesus was compassionate, forgiving and loving. That is
the kind of people we, his Body, are called to be now and that is the kind
of people the Holy Spirit can enable us to be. So let us all resolve this
Pentecost to allow the Holy Spirit to work in us, transforming us as he
transformed the disciples on the first Day of Pentecost.
Almighty and
eternal God,
through your
Word and Spirit You created all things.
In Jesus Christ,
the Word made flesh,
You reveal your
salvation in all the world.
Through your
Holy Spirit,
You give us a
share in your life and love.
Keep us firm in
this faith,
and fill
us with the vision of your glory,
that we may
serve and praise You all our days:
through
Jesus Christ our Lord,
who is
alive and reigns
with You
and the Holy Spirit,
One God,
now and for ever
