The Magnificat
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My Spirit rejoices in God my Saviour,
who has looked with favour on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me
and holy is his name.
God has mercy on those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
The Lord has showed strength with his arm
and scattered the proud in their conceit,
casting down the mighty from their thrones
and lifting up the lowly.
God has filled the hungry with good things
and sent the rich away empty.
He has come to the aid of his servant Israel,
to remember the promise of mercy,
the promise made to our forebears,
to Abraham and his children for ever.

A prayer of St. Ignatius
Teach us, good Lord,
to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not to heed the wounds;
to toil and not to seek for rest;
to labour and not to ask for any reward
save that of knowing that we do your will
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Gregorian Sacramentary
Guide us. Lord,
in all our doings with your gracious favour,
and further us with your continual help;
that in all our works,
begun, continued and ended in you,
we may glorify your holy name;
and by your mercy attain everlasting life:
through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen

Preserve us, O God, while waking,
and guard us while sleeping,
that awake we may watch with Christ
and asleep may rest in peace. Amen
