Schools

Paisley Abbey welcomes school groups. We can devise a visit focussing on different topics, such as the life of a monk, the Abbey's royal connections, the Abbey as a place of worship or provide a general tour encompassing various aspects. School tours often involve children in dressing up as monks, 'processing' into the choir stalls and even singing a song where the monks used to sing the daily offices of the monastery. In addition, a trip up the 197 steps to the top of the tower usually proves popular as does a visit to the abbey's gift shop which has a large range of 'pocket-money' priced toys as well as inexpensive souvenirs.

Schools booking a visit receive copies of the Young Persons Guide to Paisley Abbey to help prepare for the visit and ensure the children get the most out of the visit.

We can also arrange for groups to combine a visit to the Abbey with a session at the nearby Lagoon Leisure Centre swimming pool, which provides fun swimming with wave machine and a flume.
